Scott Zapotocky
Director of Vineyards
As Director of Vineyards for Paul Hobbs Winery, Scott Zapotocky oversees operations for Paul Hobbs Estate properties, is vineyard liaison to contract growers, and fosters new vineyard development for the winery. Since 2006, Scott has been working with Paul Hobbs to produce grapes from exceptional vineyard sites in Sonoma and Napa Counties.
Scott’s journey to the vineyard started during a harvest in Walla Walla, Washington. He immediately fell in love with the tireless work days, the familial yet boisterous culture and complex science of wine-growing. That crush whetted an appetite that led him into the cellars of California; cycling through classic European growing regions, and eventually to his current role with Paul Hobbs.
Originally from Colorado, Scott studied Biology and Fine Art at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. During his Junior year while studying in Florence, a passion for wine, culture and terrior was ignited. This innate passion is what eventually drives Scott to explore the many facets of a bottle of wine: the growing, making, history and appreciation. After his many twists and turns on the wine road Scott found his way to the Russian River. He now leads the Vineyard Department at Paul Hobbs Winery, where he continues to cultivate his passion for wine growing.
