2002
Paul Hobbs Chardonnay
Russian River Valley

The Wine Advocate
Robert Parker
Vol. 150
12/23/2003
Score: 89-91 (100 possible)

The Hobbs Chardonnays are big wines, buy they are impeccably well-balanced, and to his credit, he keeps the fruit up-front. These are large-scaled Chardonnays that cut a broad swath across the palate.

More structure, acidity, and delineation are present in the 2002 Chardonnay Russian River. While it does not appear to possess as intense fruit, it is still evolving. There is no doubting the impressive honeysuckle, peach-like notes. Just under 2,000 cases are produced from the Sonoma Mountain vineyard called Richard Dinner (planted with an old Wente clone), which produces intense, potentially long-lived wines.
