Paul Hobbs Chardonnay, Cuvee Agustina, Richard Dinner Vineyard

Score: 93 (100 possible)
These big-time Chardonnays combine California's great ripeness and fruit intensity with a certain European sensitivity about balance.
The luxury priced 2002 Chardonnay Cuvee Agustina (a selection of the best barrels from the Richard Dinner Vineyard) exhibits more toasty oak along with tremendous flavor intensity, fatness, and ripeness, all balanced by zesty acidity. Some liquid minerality, candied lemons, hazelnut, smoke, and tropical fruit notes are all present in this exuberant offering. It should drink well for 7-8 years.
