Merlot

Michael Black Vineyard
Napa Valley

Deep red/purple color. The scents of black fruits and cherry mingle with anise on the nose. Flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate, black pepper, and graphite exude from a dense core just starting to reveal the full depth of the wine's character. This is a supple, voluptuous, harmonious wine filled with flavors that persist long after it is swallowed. Alcohol 14.5%.

91 points Wine Advocate

“An opaque blue/purple color is accompanied by a full-bodied wine revealing notes of mocha, dense black fruits, chocolate, and toasty oak, sweet tannin, and a long finish. Anticipated maturity now-2014”
Robert Parker Jr.

90 points Wine Spectator

“A ripe, generous, fleshy style, with lots of flavor, depth and personality. The sweet ripe plumb and blackberry fruit are on a supple, fleshy frame that makes this very appealing to drink now. Finishes with a light cedary oak and well-integrated tannins. Drink now through 2009”
James Laube
