Cabernet Sauvignon

Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vnyd
St. Helena, Napa Valley

The opaque, dark ruby 2008 Beckstoffer Dr. Crane reveals concentrated aromas of ripe boysenberry, black cherry and dried herbs. The dense, powerful palate boasts rich flavors of black currant, Bing cherry, dark-roast espresso, pencil shavings and sandlewood. The extended finish is supported by soft, silky tannins and accentuated by a spice box of sage and tobacco.

96 points Wine Advocate

“Exhibits classic notes of burning embers, hot gravel, steel, blueberries, flowers and blackberries followed by an intense, full-bodied, profoundly concentrated wine. This riveting effort should drink nicely for 25+ years. There is a flinty underpinning to this offering that comes from the 20-acre vineyard in St. Helena. Despite being aged in 100% new oak, there is no evidence of wood in the aromatic or flavor profiles. This profound Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is as grand as the 2007.”

95 points Wine Spectator

“Bold, rich, intense and generous, with a perfumed, aromatic mix of ripe blackberry, currant anise, sage and licorice.  Full-bodied, gaining depth and richness on the finish, where this gains an even tighter focus.  Drink now through 2020. ”

Harvest Date October 15

Growing Season 2008 began with an exceptionally dry spring and early budbreak. Frosts in April significantly lowered cluster counts. Weather stabilized and warmed through summer, with warmer temperatures continuing through harvest. A smaller crop of high quality fruit was able to ripen fully and evenly, developing an excellent balance of sugars and acid. Overall, the 2008 wines are bright and expressive with well-articulated flavors.
