Cabernet Sauvignon

Beckstoffer To Kalon Vnyd
Oakville, Napa Valley

Paul selects specific rows of grapes within this historic vineyard, which contribute to the wine’s formidable complexity and refinement. Its black garnet hues are resplendent with aromas of blueberry, currant, cocoa and wet slate. The palate is silky and rich, and powerfully charged with intense, finely sculpted layers of graphite and dark chocolate. The velvety mid-palate crescendos toward an endless finish graced with fine yet stately tannins.

97 Points Wine Advocate

“Saturates every corner of the palate with layers after layers of rich dark fruit, mocha, spices and licorice. This is a stunning To Kalon endowed with tons of site-specific character and nuance. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029.”
Antonio Gallioni

95 Points Wine Spectator

“Big, rich and concentrated, with a gutsy yet soothing core of tannic currant, blackberry, black licorice, fresh earth, cedar and graphite. Very young and tightly wound, this is not quite ready to drink and should only get better with time”
James Laube

Growing Season 2009 began with an abundance of spring rain followed by mild, steady summer temperatures that set the stage for nearly ideal growing conditions. The well-set fruit ripened slowly allowing for an excellent balance of sugars and acids to develop. The resulting wines can be characterized as elegant and rich with profound depth and structure.
