Pinot Noir

Katherine Lindsay Estate
Russian River Valley

Brilliant deep ruby in color, our Katherine Lindsay Estate Pinot Noir is recognized for its exceptional balance of elegance and power. The wine is perfumed with Bing cherry, Santa Rosa plum and damp clay. The focused palate is firmly structured, opening with perfectly ripened juicy raspberry and crushed blackberry that yield to luscious dark chocolate and nutmeg. Notes of star anise and bergamot tantalize the mid-palate. Velvety, suave tannins and a touch of clove linger over a lengthy finish.

“A remarkable wine for this vintage. Its dark ruby color is followed by composty, mushroomy, black currant and black cherry fruit. This meaty, Cote de Nuits-styled Pinot Noir was made largely from the Calera clone blended with the Swan clone. A remarkable success, this full-throttle Pinot is best drunk over the next 5-6 years”

“Deep ruby. Red berries and cherry compote on the highly perfumed nose. Broad, fleshy and seamless, offering open-knit raspberry and cherry-cola flavors that become spicier with air. Shows an exotic floral pastille quality on the finish, which hangs on with impressive tenacity and suave, insinuating florality. ”

Harvest Date September 28 to October 3

Growing Season 2011 began with a rainy winter and spring across Sonoma and Napa Counties. Summer was cooler than average but as harvest approached temperatures rose. Our pinot noir ripened fully and evenly, allowing sugars and acid to develop in balance. The wines from 2011 are bright, expressive and faceted.
