Syrah

Kick Ranch Vineyard
Sonoma County

Violet ruby in hue, the Kick Ranch Syrah is boldly seductive. An extraordinary perfume of vibrant violets, camphor and earth entice the nose, followed by a structured palate bursting with juicy black plum, sweet tobacco and leather. Full bodied with great richness, the mid-palate gives way to chewy, meaty tannins that linger to create a heady, long finish.

90 Points Vinous

“The 2011 Syrah Kick Ranch Vineyard is surprisingly juicy and fruit-driven for the year. Dark raspberry jam, cloves, flowers and menthol all flesh out in the glass. The style is ripe and racy to the core. Hints of graphite, menthol, licorice and violets add nuance on the finish.”

91 Points International Wine Cellar

“Inky purple. Highly perfumed aromas of blackberry, cola, olive and spicecake, along with a subtle peppery note. Bright and incisive on the palate, offering energetic dark berry flavors that turn spicier and smokier with air. At once rich and lively, finishing with gentle tannins and persistent spice and floral notes.”

Harvest Date October 24

Growing Season 2011 began with a rainy winter and spring across Sonoma and Napa Counties. Summer was cooler than average but as harvest approached temperatures rose. Our syrah ripened fully and evenly, allowing sugars and acid to develop in balance. The wines from 2011 are bright, expressive and faceted.
