Cabernet Sauvignon

Napa Valley

This stately cabernet sauvignon derives great depth from the diverse terroirs of its pedigreed vineyards, including Beckstoffer Dr. Crane, Beckstoffer Las Piedras and Stagecoach. The wine is dark garnet in color with brooding aromas of blackberry and cassis. A juicy palate reveals complex layers of black fruits and baking spice with mineral traces of pencil lead and slate. Youthful acidity backed with chewy, brambly tannins creates a well-balanced 30 second finish.

92 Points Vinous

“The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is a great example of the year. Layers of rich, sumptuous fruit grace the palate in a supple, gracious Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2012 impresses for its freshness, nuance and detail. Sweet floral notes and bright red fruit inform the finish. This is a hugely delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Paul Hobbs. The sample I tasted was 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, with no blenders at this stage.”

93 Points Wine Advocate

“The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon with the Paul Hobbs moniker is pretty serious wine that could easily win many a tasting. Dense purple in color, with notes of blackcurrants, blackberry, charcoal and incense, the wine is full-bodied, opulent and a big-time winner. This is a stunner that’s drinking well already and yet promises to age well for 15-20 years.”

Growing Season The 2012 growing season has been described by many as “textbook perfect”. Temperate summer days moderated plant growth, contributing to smaller cluster and berry size during lag phase, leading to increased concentration of flavors. An idyllic Indian summer finished the maturation process, producing fruit with exceptional character and intensity.
