Cabernet Sauvignon

Stagecoach Vineyard
Napa Valley

The renowned Stagecoach Vineyard sits atop high-elevation Atlas Peak, in Napa Valley. It’s rocky, rustic terrain forces the vines to struggle, producing intensely colored and flavored wines. With a rich maroon hue, this 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon leads with expressive aromas of cassis, blueberry, leather, and dark chocolate. The palate is tightly structured with intense flavors of black olive, rhubarb pie, plum and menthol. The ripe and broad tannins provide for a very long finish. We recommend decanting this wine in its youth.

94 Points Vinous

“The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard is dark, powerful and beguiling. Some of the more distinctly mineral, savory notes typical of this site lid in the background, yet there is plenty of underlying tannin to carry the fruit. This rich, explosive Cabernet needs time, but there is plenty to look forward to. Intense chalky/mineral notes frame the ample, saline finish with tons of Atlas Peak personality.”

“The other vineyard Paul Hobbs has worked with for a long time is the Stagecoach Vineyard, a large site. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard is ruggedly constructed, with rustic tannins and earthiness, but Paul Hobbs’s brilliant touch in extracting beautiful blue and black fruits from Cabernet is well-displayed in this full-bodied age-worthy and tannic wine that should drink well for 15 or more years.”

Harvest Date October 19th

Growing Season The 2012 growing season has been described by many as “textbook perfect”. Temperate summer days moderated plant growth, contributing to smaller cluster and berry size during lag phase, leading to increased concentration of flavors. An idyllic Indian summer finished the maturation process, producing fruit with exceptional character and intensity.
