Chardonnay

Ellen Lane Estate
Russian River Valley

Formerly known as Walker Station, our Ellen Lane Estate Chardonnay has been described by Robert Parker as the “grand cru Chablis” of our portfolio. This elegant wine intrigues with aromatics of lychee, white peach, and thyme. The mineral-driven, balanced finish is preempted by flavors of pomaceous fruits, hazelnuts and honeyed phyllo dough.

91 Points Vinous

“The 2012 Chardonnay Ellen Lane Estate is intriguing in this vintage. The wine's trademark focus is evident, but the more even growing season vis-à-vis 2011 has smoothed out some of the angular contours that are present at times. Nectarine, apricot, Chamomile and pastry notes are woven into the finish.”

95 points Wine Advocate

“A dead-ringer for a grand cru Chablis. Notes of wet stones, white currants, unbuttered popcorn and pit fruits emerge from this dense, rich, long Chardonnay that possesses endearing elegance and finesse. It should drink well for 5-7 years.”
Robert Parker Jr.

Harvest Date September 29 & October 3

Growing Season 2012 has been described by many as “textbook perfect,” with both yields and quality being well above average. The growing season was long and mild, leading to even ripening, and harvest was completed before the first storm of the season arrived in late October. The wines from 2012 are expressive, balanced and delicious!
