Winemaker's Notes
Our first Pinot Noir under the CrossBarn label is plum-red in color, and opens with inviting aromas of cherry, raspberry and clove. It is mouth filling and layered on the palate, offering flavors of strawberry, cranberry, spice and roasted meat balanced by ripe tannins and a touch of tobacco on the finish. Alcohol 14.7%.

Harvest
Growing Season   The growing season began with warm, dry weather in March, resulting in early bud break. A long summer of even temperatures had a moderating effect, lowering yields and maximizing complexity in the fruit. Six days of heat in the first week of September increased flavor intensity and led to an early harvest.

Winemaking
CrossBarn is a true second label, sourced from the same exceptional vineyards used in making Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir. Crafted from hand-harvested grapes, this wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged 15 months in new and used French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered in January 2006.
