This broodingly backward, deep ruby/purple-hued effort gives up scents of crushed rocks, smoky oak, blackberries, and cassis. Powerful and rich with exceptional concentration and structure, it requires 2-3 years of cellaring, and should drink well over the next two decades or more.

Dark red. Lush, candied blackberry and boysenberry aromas, with a suggestion of dark chocolate. Creamy in texture and packed with sweet berry and cassis flavors and an exotic fruitcake quality. Takes on a ripe, tarry note on the gently tannic finish, which shows very good grip and length.

Very ripe yet well-proportioned, with rich, zesty black cherry and wild berry fruit that’s fleshy and opulent, turning elegant and refined. Best from 2008 through 2014.
