Winemaker's Notes
A fragrant nose of strawberry and underbrush accompanies deep plum color. The palate offers perfectly-ripened black cherry and currant flavors that meld seamlessly with earthy accents of bergamot and dried herbs. A touch of acidity accents a lengthy finish. Alcohol 14.9%.
Harvest
Growing Season
2006 was slightly cooler overall than 2005 and began with delayed bud break due to long, wet spring. The weather warmed in May, continuing through summer and into fall to provide the extended growing season needed for fruit to ripen fully.
Winemaking
Produced using hand-harvested fruit from select, low-yield vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, CrossBarn wines offer structure and weight in balance with pure concentrated fruit, and are an exceptional alternative to our most limited Paul Hobbs releases.
Fermented using indigenous yeasts, it is aged 11 months in French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered in August 2007.
