Winemaker's Notes
Brilliant gold color with a tinge of green carries aromas of freshly sliced Asian pear and lemon blossom. The palate offers rich, bold flavors of ripe peach and pear with a hint of butterscotch. Clean minerality and crisp acidity on the finish leave the palate refreshed.
Harvest
Growing Season
A mild, relatively dry winter followed by a warm, dry spring led to an early bud break. The temperature through summer and early fall were remarkably steady, giving fruit that got an early start to the growing season the opportunity to ripen slowly and fully. The moderate weather continued, setting a controlled pace for a harvest that produced fruit of exceptional quality.
Winemaking
Produced using hand-harvested fruit from select, low-yield vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, CrossBarn wines offer structure and weight in balance with pure concentrated fruit, and are an exceptional alternative to our most limited Paul Hobbs releases.
Fruit was pressed whole cluster and fermented with indigenous yeasts. It was fermented in tank and aged five months in French oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered in March 2008.
