Paul Hobbs Chardonnay, Walker Station Vineyard

Reviews

The Wine Advocate
Robert Parker
Vol. 126

Score: 87 (100 possible)

All of the Hobbs' Chardonnays are vinified with indigenous yeasts, put through full malolactic fermentation, and bottled with neither fining or filtration.

From a cold part of the Russian River, near Forestville, is the leanest offering. There are scents of minerals and dried herbs in the austere, Chablis-like Chardonnay. While medium-bodied, clean, and crisp, it lacks the volume and intensity of siblings.

Loads of ripe, complex, concentrated fruit flavors, with tiers of spicy green apple, pear, melon, fig and apricot. Holds its focus on a long, rich aftertaste. Drink now through 2002
