Hobbs also does a wonderful job with Pinot Noir.

The 2001 Pinot Noir Cuvee Agustina (a selection from the Hyde Vineyard planted with the Calera clone of Pinot Noir) is a limited production item (240 cases). Vibrant, dense, unctuously-textured, and full-bodied, it is one of this varietals most concentrated efforts. Readers unfamiliar with deep Pinots may think it tastes like Syrah, which is nonsense. White flowers intermixed with the essence of black cherry and blackberry jam jump from the glass of this inky ruby/purple-colored Pinot. An amazing example of Pinot Noir, it should age for 10-15 years.

Pushing ripeness to the max without overdoing it, this is a ripe, plush, effusively fruity style, with a zesty black cherry and blackberry fruit, lots of exotic spicy aromatics and gentle oak tones, and some heat on the finish. Drink now through 2008
