Upholding the Character of California’s Esteemed Appellations

The Appellations

We live to discover and nurture vineyards across Sonoma County and Napa Valley. Within each one, we strive to thoughtfully nurture the vines, yielding wines that express the full potential of each place.

Katherine Lindsay Estate
Russian River Valley

The Russian River Valley appellation lies between the Russian River and Mayacamas Mountains, creating a region defined by its proximity to the ocean and sheltered climate. Coastal breezes funneled through the Petaluma Gap push cool air and maritime fog over the region each morning, balancing the area’s afternoon sunshine. The combination of cool fog and warm temperatures, coupled with enviable soils, creates excellent conditions for pristine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Cleary Estate
Sonoma Coast

The rugged Sonoma Coast region lies directly adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, and its vines struggle in a cold, foggy climate. The area we farm is known as the “true” Sonoma Coast, both for its nearness to the ocean and its distinctive microclimate. Surrounded by majestic Redwood trees and rolling hills, the inimitable climatic conditions here allow grapes to ripen very slowly, delivering a combination of tension, structure, and pure fruit flavors in the glass.

Goldrock Estate
West Sonoma Coast

The West Sonoma Coast appellation lies along a mountainous, rugged stretch of coastline characterized by a cold, maritime climate that pushes the boundaries of traditional viticulture. Bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the West, this challenging climate yields wines beloved for their vibrant acidity, firm structure, and pure fruit flavors. One of the newest sub-appellations of Sonoma, this area’s distinctive wines offer a striking contrast to the soft, round wines of warmer inland regions.

Nathan Coombs Estate
Coombsville

The Coombsville appellation is located at the southeastern edge of Napa Valley, and is named for Nathan Coombs, the founder of Napa. The appellation lies atop an ancient volcano, giving it a blend of distinctive soils. The area also experiences an extended growing season compared to most of Napa Valley, thanks to its proximity to the nearby San Pablo Bay. This long ripening period results in muscular, structured wines known for their black fruit flavors and vibrant minerality.
